Distribution Networks

The transition of power generation to renewable energy sources, which is progressing on a global scale, causes changes in the requirements regarding the planning and operation of reliable distribution networks. For example, more than 90% of the installed capacity of peripheral generating plants in Germany have already been connected to the heterogeneous distribution network levels of the low-, medium- and high-voltage networks. For the network operators, the statutory obligation to connect renewable energy sources results in high requirements to maintain technically safe and stable networks. So far, these requirements have been met by expanding the grid territories primarily in rural areas.

DIgSILENT assists distribution network operators with the optimal planning and design of their networks.
