TransGrid to use PowerFactory as primary power system analysis tool

TransGrid has partnered with DIgSILENT as its provider of PowerFactory software, a power system simulation software for planning and operational purposes. This announcement follows TransGrid’s decision to streamline a number of software packages currently being used for power system analysis and to use PowerFactory as its primary tool.

DIgSILENT PowerFactory is a leading power system analysis software for applications in generation, transmission, distribution and industrial systems. It integrates all required functions, is easy to use and combines reliable and flexible system modelling capabilities with state-of-the-art algorithms and a unique database concept.

TransGrid is the owner, operator and manager of the NSW high voltage network connecting generators, distributors and major end users in NSW and the ACT. The network is interconnected to Queensland and Victoria, providing a strong electricity system that makes interstate energy trading possible and includes 94 substations, more than 12,800 kilometres of transmission lines, 36,000 transmission-line structures and 102 radio sites.
